Ingredients

  • 2 tablespoons (1 ounce) fresh lemon juice, cold
  • 4 ounces simple syrup, cold (equal parts sugar and water dissolved)
  • 2 packets gelatin
  • 8 ounces champagne, prosecco, sparkling wine, or cava (Pick a favorite!)
  • 4 ounces vodka (I prefer Tito’s)

Instructions

Spray a loaf pan with a mild nonstick cooking spray. Wipe away excess with a paper towel. Set aside.

Next, in a medium saucepan, add the chilled simple syrup and lemon juice. Sprinkle in the gelatin packets and allow them to bloom for 2 minutes. Turn on the heat and whisk until the gelatin is completely dissolved.

Remove the mixture from the heat and stir in the chilled champagne and the vodka. Pour into the prepared loaf pan and place in the refrigerator to fully set.

Flip the Champagne Jello Sparkle Shots onto a parchment paper-lined cutting board and cut into small squares or cut with a star shaped cookie cutter. (See serving ideas above.)

Garnish with the star sprinkles, or with the edible gold leaf.

TIPS! Champagne Jello Sparkle Shots

  • ALCOHOL FREE MOCKTAIL: Make a separate batch for kids and your non-drinking guests so that can join in the fun. Simply substitute the champagne with ginger ale or sparkling cider and the vodka/gin with white grape juice.
  • EDIBLE GOLD LEAf: This is pretty but can be tricky to decorate food with. It stick to fingers! Use a paint brush dedicated to food. Carefully lift the corners of the edible gold leaf with the paint brush and place it where you want it.
  • MAKE AHEAD/STORAGE: If you are making these pre-party, you can store them in the loaf pan for 24 hours prior to the party in an airtight container. Place a piece of plastic wrap on top of the jello before sealing with an airtight lid. Cut them 2 hours prior. Sprinkle just before serving. Jello cannot sit at room temperature.
  • SERVING: As noted above, jello cannot sit at room temperature. These must be served directly from the refrigerator.

  1. Hi – 1 tablespoon= .5 oz so I don’t understand what you mean by “2 ounce tablespoons.” Could you clarify? Thank you!!

    1. Hello Ashley!

      Happy New Year to YOU!

Thank you for your question about the Sparkling Charm Jello Shots. VERY HELPFUL! This is an oversight on my part from a recent post update.
      I edited the recipe.

2 tablespoons (1 ounce) fresh lemon juice, cold
4 ounces simple syrup, cold (equal parts sugar and water dissolved)
      2 packets gelatin
8 ounces champagne, prosecco, sparkling wine, or cava (Pick a favorite!)
      4 ounces vodka (I prefer Tito’s)
sparkle star sprinkles or edible gold leaf

Love + Joy + A Whole Lot Of Sparkle in 2023

      Thank you again! -gwyn

  2. Hi – These look great! Can’t wait to make them. One question, how do you serve these to the guests? Do they partake with their bare hands? Does it get mushy in their hands. Just trying to figure that part out. I love the idea of serving on silver tray when guests walk in, but am stumped on how they eat it. Sorry for my naïveté! Thank you!

    1. Thanks for the re-post! 🙂 -gwyn

  3. I am excited to try making this for New Years Eve. Couple of questions, can I replace the vodka with the same amount of Champagne? Second question can I make this a day ahead of time?

    Thank you.

    1. Niri! HI There!

You can add your favorite champagne.

You can make them ahead on the same day as party.

Let me tell you what I do.

I usually make a double batch. I place them on our entry table (one for each guest) at the beginning of a party as guest arrive. They are a hit and get the fun started right off the bat. …OR RIGHT THROUGH THE DOOR. ? If someone doesn’t partake, there is always a volunteer to have a double. I pull the second tray out in the middle of the party just before serving.

Jello unfortunately cannot be left out at room temperature. Hot temperatures will separate the gelatin from the water resulting in a loss in consistency. They alcohol kills the bacteria, however mocktail jello shots will grow bacteria rapidly on the gelatin.

Wishing you blessings in 2022 Niri! -gwyn

  4. Hi there!
Thanks for the recipe. Do you know how long these can be out of the fridge for? They would look great set up on the table but don’t want them to loose their shape or would they be fine?

    Thanks 🙂

    1. That is a great question. I will add the answer to the post. 🙂

Let me tell you what I do before I give you the not fun answer.

  5. Just made these for tonight – can’t wait to try them! They came out fantastic and so cute. Thanks so much for the idea and recipe!!

    1. HELLO TESS! THANK YOU FOR THE SWEET RECIPE COMMENT! I HOPE THEY ARE A PARTY HIT FOR YOU! WISHING YOU BLESSINGS AND GOOD CHEER IN 2021!

  6. Is it recommended to use unflavored gelatin?

    1. Hello Madelyn! I love your name! So pretty.
I have not tried this recipe with flavored gelatin. It might be fun to try a white grape jello and replace the liquids with champagne, prosecco, or moscato. I would bet that is tasty! If you try it let me know how it turns out. …AND SEND ME PHOTOS! Madelyn, thank you for your question. I wish you blessings and good cheer in 2021! PS Careful eating the leftovers from the cutouts. They are delicious and will sneak up on you. PS Another Sparkling Charm friend add rosemary to the dough, places the dough in an olive oil brushed cast iron skillet, and tops it with flaked salt.

  7. Having s hard time finding gelatin envelopes. Do you know how many oz in each envelope?

    1. Hello Mindy!
Happy New Year! Each gelatin packet contains about 1/4 ounce each. They can be tricky to find at the grocery store. I find them on the baking isle usually on a top shelf in a small box. I added an amazon link for you in the recipe ingredients. Have a wonderful day! -gwyn

    2. Mindy!
PS When I went in to add a link for you I realized “3 packets” is unclear! Thank you! I changed that too!

    1. Hi There! Thank you for the re-post. 🙂
